A Crossing in the Stream

It was in early spring that I found myself traversing back roads through
Lancaster County in Pennsylvania when I came upon the crossing. The cool spring
air was tempered by the early afternoon warmth of the spring sun which made for
a relaxing mood. I was alone in the woodland and found this wonderful old stone
crossing hidden in a deep glen. As you look at the image I’m sure you’ll hear
the lazy water flowing under the bridge. The location was a place where you
want to stop and take the entire setting in… to sit and observe an old crossing,
now traversed by only growing grass and woodland wildlife. I photographed the
scene from a few angles, but found this one exposure soft and quiet, capturing
the softness of the day and the mystery of the old stones, built long ago for
passage over a tiny woodland stream.
