Golden Dreams

On one of my whims I drove north from New Paltz, New York after a successful show there and ended up on the main street of Reinbeck, New York. Reinbeck, known for it’s wonderful history and world recognized aerodrome had been in my thoughts the night before.  After eating lunch in the local deli after I arrived, I was wandering the old streets of town when true to my nature, I came upon another wonderful scene.  Ruby was lying in her front yard, in a setting similar to “Golden Doorway”, my quite appreciated image of a Yellow Labrador Retriever.  Ruby is a Golden Retriever.  Lying amongst the pot of plants and the old slate steps and somewhat weather-beaten porch, I knew she needed to be part of my work.  I have been asked many times for an image of a Golden Retriever and this image of Ruby is a good example of one of the traits of a very content dog.  I photographed her from the end of the sidewalk insuring that she stay undisturbed.  She gradually opened her eyes as my images were composed, and very likely there may be a second image of Ruby to evolve from those additional images.  This is an image of peace, contentment and a yellow dog dish.
